After retiring from a nearly 25-year college teaching career and returning to Bend, I found that I missed teaching and interacting with students. It’s exciting to see students who have never been introduced to art awaken to the whole world of art― its place in the past as well as in the contemporary world.
Teaching art history allows me to open new doors to understanding the relevancy of art in our historical development, cultural heritage and in our everyday awareness of our cultural and aesthetic environment.
I love bringing the arts and artists throughout history to life, and I think my passion is conveyed to my students. My greatest satisfaction is seeing in students’ writings their newfound excitement and interest as they discover the world of art.
